Catalogue No. 2022
This is an early 20th century (c.1910) Edwardian walnut kneehole writing desk. Each pedestal of the desk stands on a plinth base and is fitted with four graduated mahogany lined drawers. The drawer fronts are fitted with solid brass plate handles. The top is fitted with a green and gold tooled leather writing surface. In our opinion the desk started life as a dressing chest and has been converted into a writing desk by the addition of adding a leather writing surface. The desk is constructed as one piece and is made to stand against a wall (the rear of the desk is unpolished). The desk is of very good quality with no damage. All the drawers are clean and run well. There is a small section of worn gilt tooling to the central front edge (due to use).
