Catalogue No. 1672
This is a mid 19th century (c.1860) mahogany Scottish chest of drawers. The chest has tree long drawers, below two small drawers to one side and a single deep drawer, made to match the opposing side. There is a panel fronted central deep drawer (fitted with a key) and a narrow cushion fronted drawer below the top. The chest has turned mahogany columns to each side, terminating in socle bases and stands on a plinth base. The chest retains it's original knobs (that are decorated with a central mother of pearl disc) and turned ivory escutcheons. The chest of drawers is in good condition throughout with a couple of shrinkage splits to the top. A very practical and imposing chest, suiting a larger bedroom.
