Catalogue No. 1371
This is a late 17th century oak coffer of paneled construction, standing on stile feet. The front panels have diamond shaped applied moulding decoration. The stiles, mullions and top rail are decorated with fluted carving, which is original to the piece (so many examples have later 19th century carving, which tends to be much flatter and shallower). The coffer has a solid two plank top and retains its original strap hinges. Good all round condition, with great colour. There is a small old repair to the top rail where the lock would have been.
