This is a mid 18th century (c.1760) oak mule chest of panelled construction through-out. The chest has three small drawers below four arched topped panels. The drawer fronts and panels are cross-banded in mahogany as is the top. The top is hinged both to open the front half only or the full depth. The chest is fitted with mahogany quarter columns to each side, often referred to as Lancashire style.
