Catalogue No. 1591
This is a late 17th century oak coffer of panelled construction. The two front panels have geometric moulded decoration. The coffer stands on short stile feet. The top is constructed from two wide oak boards and the coffer is fitted internally with a candle box. This piece retains its original lock plate and lock, although the hasp that would have been fitted to the lid is not present. The lid still retains it's original wire hinges. Altogether a good clean example and colour with good useful internal depth.
