Catalogue No. 1968
This is a late 18th century (c.1780) oak chest on chest. The chest stands on shaped bracket feet. The bottom section has three long drawers, the top section is fitted with three long and two short drawers. The rails are faced with mahogany. The chest is fitted with brass swan neck handles and the drawers are lined with their original blue lining paper. The upper section is fitted with a cornice moulding, decorated with a Greek key design. The chest on chest is in good clean condition throughout, with only the odd blemish commensurate with age and usage. The lining paper in the drawers is a bit tired and the back has evidence of old woodworm (treated and not live).
Width measurement is from outer edge to edge of cornice.
