MAHOGANY SECRETAIRE BOOKCASE - £1100

This is an early 19th century (c.1800) mahogany secretaire bookcase. The chest stands on shaped bracket feet and has four long drawers. The top drawer is constructed to look like two drawer fronts and when opened reveals a fitter writing interior with the normal arrangement of two banks of three drawers with central pigeon holes for letters etc. The internal drawer fronts are veneered in satinwood with rosewood banding. The upper section consists of a bookcase with a pair of glazed doors with gothic arch glazing bars. The bookcase is fitted with three adjustable shelves and is topped with a removable moulded cornice. This secretaire bookcase is in very good condition throughout with only a few age related marks and blemishes, commensurate with age. The drawers are fitted with replacement brass handles, appropriate to the period.
