Catalogue No. 1927
This is a late 18th century (c.1790) Georgian mahogany linen press, constructed in two sections. The base section stands on its original shaped bracket feet and is fitted with two short and two long drawers. The drawers are very clean internally and provide excellent storage capacity. The top section is fitted with a pair of panelled doors, decorated with astragal moulding incorporating 'broken corners' (typical of the period). The doors open to reveal an open hanging space (originally this would have been fitted with slide out trays). The linen press is in very good condition throughout (one old repair to a drawer rail) and exhibits a good rich colour.
Height of hanging space - 90cm from rail. Width of hanging space 112cm
