MAHOGANY HANDKERCHIEF TABLE

Catalogue No. 1652

This is a late 18th century mahogany handkerchief table (c1780). The table stands on three shaped cabriole legs, terminating with early slipper shaped feet. The table is designed to stand in a corner, with a triangular drop flap, that when raised forms a square table. The flap is supported by the right leg, which is made in two parts so that when open, gives the impression of a four legged table. The unusual feature of a handkerchief table is that the normally fixed part of the top lifts to reveal a lockable compartment. The table is in good general condition, with a couple of old repairs to the banding around the top. The lock has been replaced, although the escutcheon is original.

With flap raised table width is 80 x 80cm

80 x 40 x 67 cm (W x D x H)

Price: £365.00
