Catalogue No. 1643
This is a late 18th century (c.1770) mahogany gentleman's chest of drawers. The chest has four long drawers. The top drawer is a fitted toilet drawer with a brushing slide. The brushing slide in the top drawer slides back to reveal fitted compartments for razors and brushes etc. (a couple of dividers are missing from the compartment drawer). The chest stands on shaped bracket feet and retains it's original brass swan neck handles. Both sides of the chest have carrying handles (later fitted old replacements). The chest is constructed from excellent quality mahogany timber, displaying a lovely rich colour and grain. There is an old repair to the back edge of the right hand side of the chest (shown in detailed photos).
