Catalogue No. 1986
This is a late 18th century (c.1780) Georgian mahogany chest on chest. The chest stands on shaped bracket feet. The lower section is fitted with three long drawers with the unusual addition of a shallow 'cravat' drawer. The top section is fitted with three long drawers and two short drawers. The drawers retain their original brass swan neck handles and are fitted with keys. The moulded cornice of the top section has a 'dentil' moulding (so called because it resembles a row of teeth'). The chest on chest is in good clean condition throughout with only the odd minor bump and blemish commensurate with age and usage.
The width measurement is from edge of cornice.
