Catalogue No. 1943
This is a late 18th century (c.1790) mahogany chest of two short and three long drawers. The chest stands on it's original bracket feet and retains it's original brass swan neck handles. The sides of the chest are constructed in softwood (pine) and coloured to match the mahogany of the top and front (this was a common practice as mahogany was an expensive timber and not readily available to country craftsmen). The chest is in good condition throughout and is in totally original condition. There is a very slight shrinkage crack in the top.
