This is an early 20th century (c.1910) mahogany bureau bookcase in the Sheraton revival style. The bureau section is fitted with three long and two short drawers, constructed with solid mahogany linings which are exceptionally clean and fitted with brass oval plate handles. The bureau stands on a stylized apron with splayed feet. The fall opens to reveal a plain and clean interior consisting of two small drawers and pigeonholes. The bookcase is glazed in a geometric design with the glazing bars having a worked astragal moulding. The glazed doors open to reveal three adjustable shelves. The bookcase is finished with a moulded cornice. The front of the bureau is decorated with boxwood line inlay and satinwood bandings. Both sections are fitted with a key. A good, clean, above average example of it's type with no damage and only minor marks and blemishes commensurate with age and usage.
