This is a late 18th/early 19th century (c.1800) mahogany brass bound oval cellarette / wine cooler. The cellarette stands on four moulded and tapered legs that have decorated 'c' scroll brackets. The legs terminate with brass castors. The cellarette itself is of coopered construction, held together with two wide brass bands and is fitted with a zinc liner. The cellarette is in good sound condition with a few minor marks due to age and usage. The zinc liner would have originally been used to hold ice but due to age and some deterioration could not now be used for this purpose.
