This is a late 19th century (c.1870) French hall bench. The bench is constructed from chestnut in the Breton style of Northern France. The solid seat is made from three planks. The bench as shaped arm supports and the back is pierced with a shaped top rail, decorated with brass studs. The back is raised at either end with a pierced roundel, giving the bench an ecclesiastical feel. The bench is in good condition throughout with no damage.
