This is a late 18th century (c.1790) mahogany chest on chest. The chest is of excellent quality throughout. All aspects of the chest on chest are original, including the octagonal brass plate handles. The drawer fronts and rails are veneered in well defined grain matched veneer and exhibit a rich warm colour. the drawer linings are constructed from oak throughout and are very clean. Two of the drawers (one to the top section, the other to the lower section) have oak partitions fitted. The removable cornice is decorated with a narrow band of satinwood and the top edge of the moulding has 'gradooned' carved decoration.
