Catalogue No. 1782
This is a mid 19th century (c.1850) French cherrywood chest of four long drawers. The chest stands on a plinth base, supported with moulded block feet. The drawer fronts are veneered with book-matched veneers that exhibit a good flare of grain. The brass handles are decorated with floral motifs and have good quality ring grips. The chest is in very good clean condition throughout with only minor marks and blemishes commensurate with age (there are a couple of small feint marks on the drawer from an old central handle). The chest is a mellow warm colour and is fitted with a key.
